How to create Color Map

In your paper, all visualizations are accompanied by a color map, which gives numerical quantities for the colors. However, the color map isn't in Polyscope or anywhere in the code for that matter.

• What code did you use to create the color map? Please share.
• Polyscope provides the RGB of any element you click. Do you have any code that, inside Polyscope, displays the raw pressure / tension / etc. numbers of that element?

I figured out a solution.

Polyscope has matplotlib's colormaps built into it. The Polyscope docs have a nice demonstration.

However foambryo doesn't take advantage of that and manually creates the colormaps from the raw values, and then manually feeds the colors into polyscope. The method in question is add_color_quantity(), which is arguably inferior to add_scalar_quantity() because add_scalar_quantity() provides face coloring (for a mesh), displays the raw values used, and shows a colormap.

I will probably submit a pull request later changing all add_color_quantity() to add_scalar_quantity().

(not to be confused with foambryo's scalar_quantities=True parameter which toggles Volume Derivatives etc.)

Here is an example of a fix:

Another concern in terms of raw values visibility, is that there are actually 2 point clouds, one "Graph Nodes" point cloud and "Stress tensors" point cloud. The stress tensors have their own small spheres hidden behind the big spheres and Graph Edges to which the vectors are attached. This is somewhat unintuitive and annoying, but on the grand scale of things it is a nitpick.
