👋 hi, i'm bassim

i love building really good open source software.

i built react-shiki, a popular shiki powered syntax highlighter for react. it's got an intuitive, type-safe API and is optimized for performance in demanding react applications.

at assistant-ui, i’m a founding engineer working on taking the complexity out of building agentic apps. assistant-ui is an open source react/typescript SDK with radix-style AI primitives and a library of accessible, well crafted shadcn-style UI components.

in my free time i contribute to open source and experiment with building all kinds of side projects: dev tools, plugins, websites, or anything else that catches my interest. check out my repositories to see what i've been working on.
